Don't Slow Down by Pastor Joshua Ativor

Introduction

1 Kings 13:8-25; 2 Timothy 2:2-3

In our journey with God, it's easy to get excited about the promises and prophecies that lie ahead. We often start strong, fueled by passion and anticipation, but as time goes on, we may begin to lose steam. The initial fire that once burned within us starts to dwindle, and we find ourselves slowing down. Perhaps it's due to challenges, distractions, or even complacency. Whatever the reason, it's crucial to recognize that slowing down can have far-reaching consequences on our walk with God and the fulfilment of our divine assignments.

As believers, we're called to a life of obedience, endurance, and focus. Our walk with God is not just about the destination; it's about the journey, the process, and the transformation that occurs along the way. When we slow down, we risk losing sight of our purpose, our passion, and our connection with God. Today, we're reminded that our divine walk with God requires us to stay focused, to endure hardships, and to obey His instructions without wavering.

Let's explore why it's crucial not to slow down in our pursuit of fulfilling God's plan for our lives. By examining the importance of focus, endurance, and obedience, we can gain a deeper understanding of what it means to walk with God and fulfill our divine assignments.

The Importance of Focus and Endurance

After breaking through limits, it's essential to maintain focus and endure hardships. Our assignment from God is personal, and sometimes, the prophetic word upon our lives shouldn't be discussed. When God gives us instructions, we mustn't slow down, for if we do, the enemy will bring distractions our way. Losing focus means losing our cause. Many have started well but got stuck along the way due to lost focus.

Examples and Biblical References

We can learn from the examples of biblical figures like Caleb and Joshua, who remained focused and endured hardships, ultimately fulfilling their destinies. Caleb's faithfulness and endurance allowed him to possess the land, while Joshua's focus on God's promises enabled him to lead the Israelites to victory.

Maintaining Focus

To maintain focus, we must:

- Prioritize our relationship with God through prayer and Bible study

- Set clear goals and reminders of our divine assignments

- Surround ourselves with supportive people who encourage us to stay focused

- Be mindful of distractions and temptations that can lead us astray

No Rest Until the Assignment is Accomplished

In this Kingdom, there is no rest until our assignment is accomplished. We must continue doing what God has instructed, anointed, and directed us to do until we see the manifestation. When we slow down, everything about us slows down. Even when it seems like our prophetic destiny may not come to pass, we must hold onto our faith, for in due season, it shall come to pass. Don't be bothered by contrary voices to your prophetic destiny.

Why We Must Not Slow Down

1. God's promises and prophecies are time-sensitive: Some doors and opportunities open once, and when you miss them, that ends your prophetic destiny.

2. The enemy is very active: Don't slow down, for the enemy is like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Pet 5:8).

3. Momentum is crucial: Fulfilling your destiny and assignment requires momentum. Don't let complacency slow you down.

4. Accountability and stewardship: We'll give an account to God for how we lived our lives. Everybody has been called to do something, so don't slow down.

5. The best requires endurance: Be encouraged to endure hardship and hardness. Forget about past failures and forge ahead, holding onto God's promises.

The Consequences of Slowing Down

When we slow down, we risk:

- Missing our divine appointments and opportunities

- Losing momentum and falling behind

- Becoming vulnerable to the enemy's attacks

- Failing to fulfill our assignments and destinies

- Disappointing God and ourselves

Staying on track

To avoid these consequences, let's:

Stay focused on God's promises and prophecies

- Endure hardships and challenges with faith and perseverance

- Keep moving forward, even when the journey gets tough

- Trust in God's faithfulness and timing

Remember that our assignments and destinies are worth the effort and sacrifice

*Conclusion*

As we journey through life, pursuing the plans God has laid out for us, it's essential to remember that there is a sure victory ahead. God is faithful, and His promises will come to pass. Don't let the challenges and hardships discourage you. Instead, draw strength from God's Word and press on.

Final Exhortation

Forget about the failures of the past and focus on the promises of God. Keep moving, keep going, and don't slow down. Your obedience, endurance, and focus will be rewarded when you see the manifestation of God's plan in your life. Let us heed the call to perseverance and determination. Let's continue to do what God has instructed, anointed, and directed us to do, knowing that in due season, we shall reap the rewards of our labor.

Final Call to Action

Don't slow down. Keep going. Your destiny is worth it. God's promises are worth it. Your obedience and endurance will bring you to the fulfillment of your prophetic destiny. Stay focused, stay committed, and trust in God's faithfulness. May God give us the strength to endure and the faith to hold onto His promises, even when it seems like the journey is long and arduous.

May we emerge victorious, having fulfilled our assignments and destinies, all to the glory of God. Amen.
