The Chosen Generation

Sermon by Prophet Andy Asiedu

Transcribed from the Sunday Service - August 31, 2025

Introduction

Beloved, it is a privilege to stand before you today and share a powerful message from the Word of God. The Spirit of the Lord says, "You are not an ordinary person. Your birth is not an accident. It is by God's orchestration and according to His counsel." As stated in 1 Peter 2:9 (KJV), "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light."

The Chosen Generation

As a chosen generation, you have been set apart for a specific purpose, and that led to your coming to the earth. However, you have to belong to God's kingdom for the purpose of God to take shape and be made manifest in your life. Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." You cannot be a chosen generation and live your life anyhow. The Kingdom of God is governed by laws, precepts, rules, and systems that must be adhered to.

Characteristics of a Chosen Generation

There are four key characteristics of a chosen generation:

1. A chosen generation and royal priesthood: Due to your standing with God, you have direct access to God because of your salvation in Christ Jesus. You now belong to the family and household of God, and this family has a culture with a peculiar code of conduct having the Bible as a constitutional manual. Psalm 119:11 says, "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." You have been set apart to make an impact in all spheres of life around the world.

2. Royal priesthood: You now have unrestrained and unlimited access to God. This is why the curtain that separated the inner court of the temple from the innermost court was torn from top to bottom to give you access into the presence of God, being welcomed into His kingdom as sons and daughters of the living God - the Mount Zion.

3. A holy nation: Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God (Matthew 5:8). Without purity, certain blessings can never manifest in your life. You can never make an impact in your generation without the virtue of purity. This will give you access to the wisdom and power of God. If you carry destiny and prophecy, you have to be careful about the way you live your life. Don't be unduly influenced by negative peer pressure. The difference between Joseph and Samson is a notable example.

4. Let your life be a testimony to others: You are to show forth the excellence of God. Know that your life is a book that many are looking up to. You have to comfort yourself when you are in the midst of God's presence and His people. Let your light shine before men so that they will glorify the name of God for your lifestyle portrays your family head. Christ is the head of the church - make sure you exhibit the likeness of Christ in your relationships and in all your dealings with men, whether in the church or outside the church, for God's glory, greatness, and grace to be transferred to many in your generation and beyond.

Conclusion

In conclusion, beloved, you are a chosen generation, set apart for a specific purpose. You have been given direct access to God through salvation in Christ Jesus. As a royal priesthood, you have the privilege of approaching God with confidence. As a holy nation, you are called to live a life of purity, and your life should be a testimony to others, showcasing the excellence of God.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your Word, which guides us and directs us. We pray that You will help us to live according to Your passion for Your Word and to live according to Your purpose for our lives, to walk in purity, and to be a testimony to others. May Your glory, greatness, and grace be manifest in our lives, and may we make an impact in our generation for Your name's sake. Amen.
